SEFtec NMCI Offshore Ltd (SNO), a public / private joint venture between SEFtec Global Training Ltd and The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI), was launched on the 17th December 2010 at the National Maritime College, Co. Cork, by the Minister of Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Batt O’Keeffe.
This venture is a shining example of how to bring together state of the art public infrastructure, in the form of one of the world’s most advanced maritime colleges, with private enterprise’s expertise in not only offshore training, but in the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and service of training simulators for the global maritime industry. read more…

We had Mr John O’Connell who is the Rig manager for West Gemini Seadrill here at The National Maritime College of Ireland recently who completed some OPITO training. John kindly presented SEFtec NMCI Offshore with a model of the new vessel “West Gemini”.
Seadrill is a leading offshore deepwater drilling company, that aims to be their customers’ most important partner in making oil and gas available in a safe and cost-effective manner. read more…

We were thrilled to have the Dublin Fire Brigade down at the NMCI this week. The Brigade came down to the college to complete our Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET). This course helps the fire brigade to familiarise themselves with Helicopter emergencies where they learn how to escape a helicopter if it ditches. The fire bridge has been coming down to the NMCI for the past 3 years, every year they send down 32 staff to complete safety training. read more…

We were thrilled to have the stars of RTE’s “Rescue 117” TV Show come down to the NMCI today to complete our Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) course. We are very proud to continue our loyal and longstanding relationship with the Irish Coast Guard as they have been completing their refresher training at the NMCI for many years. All of us at the NMCI have been glued to the screens watching the show which follows the Irish Coast Guard’s helicopter Search and Rescue service, as they battle to save lives in one of the most hostile environments in the world. The Irish Coast Guard’s (CHC Ireland) enjoyed the HUET and Firefighting Training immensely, as they got the opportunity to practice and demonstrate skills which are not possible to practice offshore during drills, exercises and offshore training. read more…

We had our annual Maritime Open Day on the 3rd of November 2010 which is a great opportunity for prospective students to have a look at the wonderful maritime facilities we have on offer at the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI).
This year’s event was a massive success with over 400 students and parents from all over Ireland getting the chance to see our world class facilities. The students were literally blown away with our demonstration on sea survival in our 20m x 8m indoor pool. read more…
