Maritime Industry Awards

Posted: June 17, 2015

You may know that the NMCI are official patrons to the 2015 Maritime Industry Awards and the countdown is nearly over as the Awards Night is just under 36 hours away. We couldn’t be more excited. GTSS & SNO have been nominated for the Excellence in Maritime Education & Training Award so a bit of competition amongst ourselves should make for an interesting night.

With a drinks reception at 7pm in the Ballsbridge Hotel we can’t wait to network with all of the different industry partners who will be in attendance. Our maritime colleagues from near and far will be in attendance to recognise and celebrate the most innovative companies in the Irish maritime sector.

Haven’t booked a seat and feeling left out? Don’t worry, join us on Twitter tomorrow night where we will be keeping our followers up to date with pictures and category winners.

Galway Port Redevelopment

An Bórd Pleanála has confirmed it has delayed making a decision on the planning application to redevelop Galway Harbour.

The oral hearing into the proposed €126 million extension of the harbour was held in January and a decision was due in April or May. However, the planning appeals board has confirmed that the decision date has been pushed back by several weeks.

An Bórd Pleanála planners heard evidence from experts during an oral hearing that lasted over two weeks earlier this year as previously reported on Afloat.ie
