High Voltage Management Course
As the High Voltage (Management) course is a commercial course, it is available to book online at the following link: High Voltage (M). Once you have registered and paid online you will appear on the course participants list. Unfortunately, we cannot accept provisional course booking requests as there are limited places available. The course cost is €1,200 per delegate.
This course is suitable for marine engineering officers, electrical or electro-technical officers, engineer surveyors and marine superintendents. The training gives seafarers the essential education and training in high voltage (HV) installations to meet the Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency requirements as set out in STCW 2010 Tables A-III/2 and A-III/6 for electrical, electronic and control systems at the management level.
Course Content
The course consists of a blend of classroom and practical training using dedicated facilities to enable students to achieve the following training outcomes:
- Management of HV operations on board a ship, including familiarisation with HV safety rules, procedures and legislation, knowledge of electrical hazards, and completion of safety records and documentation.
- Understanding the HV system and the maintenance of distribution capability, including operational and safety features, function of protection devices, HV switch room arrangements, analysing the protection of marine distribution systems and practical maintenance.
- Identification of faults within an HV system and reconfiguration of the system to maintain electrical supply, including identification of fault levels and conditions, and compiling and implementing a switching plan to isolate a high voltage distribution fault
The courses will commence at 9am on the first day and to ensure a timely start we kindly request all delegates to report to reception no later than 08.45am.

Last week, Abu Dhabi Ports – the master developer, operator and manager of ports and industrial zones in the Emirate, participated in Maritime Academic Conference & Expo 2015 (MARACAD) which was held on November 10th and 11th at Dubai World Trade Centre.
Our Simulation Services Manager, Clive Hotham, was invited to support our client (Abu Dhabi Ports Maritime Training Centre) at their stand for MARACAD.
Abu Dhabi Ports’ internationally recognised Maritime Training Centre that offers a portfolio of marine and port training courses presented its higher level courses at MARACAD. The Centre is a leading training facility in the region and the first GCC maritime training institute to pass a Lloyd’s Register audit and be officially accredited as an Approved Training Provider. The Training Centre, established in 2011, offers courses on par with international standards that are not otherwise available in the region. The courses have been accredited by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK MCA) and recognised by IALA-AISM, a non-profit, international technical association. Internationally recognised instructors are conducting the courses using ship, RADAR and ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display & Information System) simulation. The centre offers a number of security related training courses including Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO) authorised by the national security authority of the UAE; and the General Authority for the Security of Ports, Borders and Free Zones. These courses, for those involved in port security, have been accredited by the Federal Transport Agency as approved training courses. A number of courses in navigation, ship handling chart work and local knowledge for ship’s officers and pilots are also offered, using the ship and radar simulators.

GAC AND ATPI GRIFFINSTONE TO OFFER FIRST INTEGRATED TRAINING AND TRAVEL SOLUTION TO MARINE AND ENERGY INDUSTRIES
New offering will optimise crews’ travel amid new requirements to refresh
STCW and OPITO training
Manila, Philippines, November 12, 2015 – GAC Training and Service Solutions (GTSS), the specialist provider of world-class training for maritime personnel, has announced an agreement with ATPI Griffinstone, part of the ATPI Group, one of the leaders in travel solutions for the shipping and energy industries. The agreement will provide the first fully integrated training and travel offering for seafarers and crew seeking mandatory training under the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and Offshore Petroleum Industry Training (OPITO) requirements.
Developed in response to forthcoming changes to STCW requirements that will require crew to refresh training every five years from 2017 to maintain standards inline with the latest technological and operational requirements, the service will increase access to convenient, cost-effective, standardised crew training across a world-wide network of locations.

The STCW and OPITO mandatory training courses will be launched in the UK with a further 11 approved facilities added to the programme in the coming months, including Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, United States, Canada, Ireland, UAE and South Africa. Through the scheme, ship operators, managers and crewing agents can select the most convenient location and create a bespoke integrated travel, transfer and accommodation package through ATPI Griffinstone’s access to competitive rates and intelligent booking management system.
