Offshore & Renewable Course Dates

SEFtec NMCI Offshore (SNO) Offshore & Renewable Course Dates 2020 are now available to download or book online.

New to Cork? The National Maritime College of Ireland is located just a 20 minute drive from Cork International Airport, now with a Bus Service operating every 30 minutes to the NMCI via Carrigaline. If you require accommodation we are happy to provide you with a list of recommended local hotels and guesthouses nearby. If you’re looking for things to do in Cork, our team are always happy to suggest local attractions or provide you with a list of recommended places to visit. Just ask your instructor or any of the NMCI Services admin team you meet during registration.

OPITO approved Courses include Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (BOSIET) with CA-EBS, Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing Systems (CA-EBS) and Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST).

GWO courses include, GWO Basic Safety Training Fire Awareness, GWO Basic Safety Training First Aid, GWO Basic Safety Training Manual Handling and GWO Basic Safety Training Sea Survival and Transfer.

Rás Tailteann- 8 day Cycle around Ireland

The Rás Tailteann is an annual, eight-day, stage race around Ireland covering over 1,100kms. The race is Ireland’s number one cycling event with participants, both professional and amateurs,  from all around the world.

SEFtec NMCI Offshore (SNO) have sponsored the “Gerry McVeigh Cars Doormotion” team, pictured here at the beginning of the week. Also pictured is SNO’s Ruth Murphy with Ciaran Murphy, taken after Stage 5, Glengarriff to Mitchelstown yesterday.

 

Today the team travels 155kms from Mitchelstown to Carlow for Stage 6. The race finishes on Sunday in Skerries, Co Dublin.

Apprenticeship Opportunity with SEFtec NMCI Offshore (S.N.O)

SEFtec NMCI Offshore are global leaders in the delivery of OPITO training courses. With a range of courses from BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training), FOET (Further Offshore Emergency Training), MIST (Minimum Industry Safety Training), to HUET & EBS (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training with Emergency Breathing Systems) we are one of the leading offshore training centres worldwide.

Having invested in excess of 60 million euros ($100 million dollars) into our state of the art training facilities we provide delegates with the most up to date training. As a dynamic company which is growing year on year we are now looking to expand our team and will be recruiting two apprentices’ to join the S.N.O team.

Candidate Profile:

  • ·         Over 18 years of age
  • ·         Completion of the leaving certificate or equivalent
  • ·         Demonstrated ability to work within a team
  • ·         Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with peers, other groups, clients, internal associates.
  • ·         An interest in the Offshore /Maritime sector
  • ·         Willingness to travel abroad
  • ·         Water Confident / High Level of Fitness
  • ·         Delegates will be required to undergo a medical if successful as some aspects of the course are physically demanding.

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager the two apprentices will undergo a 24 month intensive programme achieving recognised Instructor qualifications and on the job experience. The duties will involve, but are not limited to, the following;

  • Ensure that safety standards for both staff and delegates are adhered to at all times
  • Provide support for Commercial courses / courses to the Offshore Oil and Gas sectors/ Maritime sector
  • Achieve competency in Sea Survival Equipment Maintenance
  • Complete various Instructor Courses which will provide the foundation for an Instructor and meet the demands of the company going forward
  • Obtain the competencies required to teach and assess, as per the standards laid down in the OPITO guidelines, and STCW guidelines
  • Attend classes as deemed appropriate by management (academic and practical sessions) both at the NMCI and other locations as required (e.g. offshore,  Client premises)
  • Comply with the procedures, staff notices, communications as issued by management & any other duties deemed relevant by management

Ministerial Launch of Irish Offshore Training Capability

SEFtec NMCI Offshore Ltd (SNO), a public / private joint venture between SEFtec Global Training Ltd and The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI), was launched on the 17th December 2010 at the National Maritime College, Co. Cork, by the Minister of Enterprise, Trade & Employment, Batt O’Keeffe.

This venture is a shining example of how to bring together state of the art public infrastructure, in the form of one of the world’s most advanced maritime colleges, with private enterprise’s expertise in not only offshore training, but in the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and service of training simulators for the global maritime industry. read more…
